In 2000, The Heard Museum opened “Remembering Our Indian School Days,” an exhibition on the history of American Indian boarding schools. It was the first major exhibition to explore the forced assimilation of American Indian children into twentieth-century society. It featured archival materials, artwork, video, and audio.
